Big Schools Birdwatch

Kirtlington school have once again donned our binoculars and taken part in the citizen science project: the RSPB’s Big Schools Birdwatch. We settled ourselves quietly in the playground and waited patiently for local birds to alight on the school grounds. Although the birds were not exactly flocking in, and many disappointingly flew on by, all classes were able to identify a few different birds over the course of the hour. We discovered that some of our most common birds – jackdaws and crows – were not listed on the RSPB’s most likely. In assembly, we also learned how to identify some of our most common birds by their songs.
