Thank you very much to all parents and carers who completed the questionnaire. We had 37 responses in total, which equates to over 50% of our parent/carer community.

From the results, it is clear that the majority of our parents and carers feel that their child is happy and safe at school and that pupils are well behaved. Creating an environment where all our pupils feel safe and happy is at the heart of our school vision.

The staff team and governors have reviewed the results and identified 3 areas for development:

  1. Information about teaching and learning in school

Some respondents felt that there was a lack of information about what the children are learning in the classroom so we will be sharing more information in a variety of ways: our Long-Term class plans (shared on each class page on the website); some in-person sessions at school and via our Facebook page. Please see the full results document for more details.

2. Pupil Expectations

Question 8 about having high expectations for children received some ‘don’t know’ responses. We do have high expectations for all our children. These are broader than just academic achievement and are underpinned by our School Vision and Values. For us, having high expectations doesn’t mean putting unnecessary pressure on children and staff. It means helping each other to be the best that we can be.

3. Progress Updates

A few respondents felt that they weren’t receiving enough information about their child’s progress and some asked if we would be returning to face to face parents’ evenings. Our first parents’ evening will be online but the second one, in the spring term, will be face to face and you will be able to look at your child’s work/books. We are always available to discuss specific issues or concerns face to face. Please contact us via the school office.

Praise for our school

Finally, thanks for all of the lovely comments that we received. Here are just a few:

“The school is very special, extremely nurturing and with some inspirational teaching. It is impressive how many opportunities there are for extra-curricular activities given the size of the school, and the focus on outdoor learning is really positive. Thank you to the team for all your hard work.”

“We couldn’t ask for a happier more nurturing environment for our child. Many thanks all involved.”

“Our child has settled well to the school and is excited to go to school every day. The sense of community that the school fosters is exceptional and we feel this has played a large part in helping our child settle and have enthusiasm for learning.”

“It is a lovely school, the children all seem happy and kind / supportive of each other. Especially the older children with the younger years. The staff are all excellent.”

“Really lovely school that provides lots of opportunities for the children. Fantastic to have a forest school on site. The teachers and staff are excellent – appear to be warm, dedicated, creative and supportive. Wonderful newsletters, updates and photos of what the children have been doing – thank you.”

Pupil Survey

We also undertook a survey of our Year 2-6 pupils. The results show that the majority of children enjoy being at school and feel safe there. All the children felt that bullying wasn’t a problem at school and that incidents were effectively dealt with by teachers. The majority of children felt that they were supported and listened to by staff.
