Stargazing Evening – 5th March

On Wednesday 5 March, we will be holding an astronomy evening at school. This will start at 5.30pm in the school hall, with a talk and fun activities about the moon and the planets. At 6pm, it should be dark enough for the children to start looking through telescopes at the moon and planets, in the school playground.

Volunteers from CNAAG (Chipping Norton Amateur Astronomers Group) will be giving the talk and are bringing their telescopes for the children to look through.

There will be refreshments available including tea, coffee, juice, biscuits and pizza.

Although we are in school and teachers will be available, children will be the responsibility of their parents and we would like to remind you that it will be dark in the playground and ask you to keep a watch on your children for their safety and that of our visitors and their equipment.

There is no charge for the event which is open to children in Oak, Willow and Lime Class and their families.

At the moment, the forecast for next week looks clear and settled, which is great. However, this event is weather dependent so if the forecast changes drastically and the weather looks uncertain the event will have to be cancelled. We would advise parents via parent mail.

We hope this will be a fun and interesting evening and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday to marvel at the moon, planets and our night sky.
